I just got through cleaning and repacking the bearings on my 1965 Dart. Got to looking at the spindle and noticed that there were small, what looked like hairline cracks, where the inner bearing rides. Is this an indication that the spindle is in need of being replaced? How can you tell when the spindles need to be replaced?

Clean it and look close with a magnifying glass. Use a pointed pick tool and see if you can feel a crack with the tool.

Heat from the race cup, I've always run them that way and never had a problem. A pressure plate will do the same thing.

Maybe you should post pictures so we can see how bad the cracks are.

No way I would use a spindle with cracks in it....regardless of size. Show us some good close up photos.
