I just got a 73 Dart Sport and the front end squeaks every time I drive over any kind of a bump on the road. I read in a previous forum that I could try spraying a Non Petroleum based lubricant on some of the rubber parts like the upper control arms. I've checked around and can't find any lubricants that are Non petroleum based. Can anyone tell me specifically what I should use?

Thanks

Often times that is the strut rod bushings. Open your hood and look down at the K-frame. the two huge rubber bushings on each side are attached to the strut rod. These are very squeaky when they get dry rotted. soak them with penetrating oil and see if it goes away. Trust me, it will come back if it does go away, they will need to be replaced.

If not the strut rod bushings, failed lower arm bushing can make a heck of a dry metal to metal squeak. Quite serious damage can occur if ignored. Not many places under there where a shot of lube is a cure. More like a Band-Aid.
