What I am looking for is a quality, solid roller that does not need grinding of the lifter valley.

My old lifters looked just like the Comp 828's but had an inboard vertical bar. These were perfect but I don't know the brand and can't find them anywhere (they are from the early 90s, may have been Crane).

The 8043's mentioned by DJVCUDA in the thread above look promising but I'm trying not to hit that $600 price point unless I run out of alternatives.
 
I have Hughes roller lifters in my 340, no problem. Cost was $345.
 
Yep! Just know that you might have to open the Pushrod holes on the heads if you have a big cam (trust me, we were pulling are hair out trying to figure out what was going on there). That and custom length pushrods.
