Any chance the starter from a 225 slant six will bolt on and work on a small block (360) with a 727 tranny?

Yep, it will work. I have done it before. But it would be smarter if you used one off of a bb as they are stronger.

Have to balance smart with cheap right now! 
Been buying so much stuff for my 360 conversion over the winter that reusing my current starter makes my wallet sigh loudly with relief. I'll change it out for a mini-starter later but to get the car rolling under V8 power, the slant six unit will do.
