starting issues

66 valiant--318 stock ignition--OK just got the car off the truck and the starter will not stop spinning when engine starts,so off to the parts store to get new starter relay-Installed the relay and same thing--Starter will not stop spinning when motor starts!!!!!!!!!!! No what????? Steve

It even keeps spinning when ignition key is taken out and does not stop till i pull the negative cable off

the solenoid is bad, get you a new starter

If the car has been sitting, the bendix is probably hanging up. Try taking the starter apart and cleaning everything up. Lightly lube the moving parts.

Long ago I tried rebuilding my Chrysler starter. It did the same thing. I must have messed up the solenoid wiring. I would get a starter for a Magnum engine. Half the weight and size and ~$10 at junkyard.
