Hey guys I have finally saved up close to enough cash for paint on the 68 Cuda. Going to start to get a few prices in the next few weeks.

I already did rebuilt the engine and painted the engine bay, so I want to leave the engine in the car. My last car I got painted (68 dart) I brought it in completely stripped. Shell only. Kinda want to stay away from that this time. The car (Cuda) is from California so she is pretty clean.

Any tips or things to watch out for when having an older car painted ? I will be removing all trim, bumpers and weatherstripping..

Are you willing to travel to get the paint work done?

I know of reputable places in Erin, Brantford, GTA, and Windsor.

Let me know.
Yes I would.. there is a few shops locally I want to see first. I will keep you informed thanks

Darren,

Good, this also a good way to gauge your budget too.

I would ask for letters of reference from former customers or ask to talk to those people and physically see the vehicle yourself. Check with the BBB, and Google their website (if they have one). Usually you will see comments about their work in related articles or threads.

I have some refinish tech service guys that would be glad to help out, discreetly of course.

Good Luck

Very very good read. Some good tips, and I am a very picked guy, already turned down 2 guys who offered to do the job. Pretty much word for word with your read. About the guy looks at the car and within 5 mins he has his price to do the job, and he didn't even look at the inside lips of the doors for rot. And I really agree with all the good local shops want to do is collision work. And rate when you bring in a classic car fir body and paint they have no choice but to HI BALL the price. Thanks again love the stocker part too...
