Steering colum

can anybody give me a measurement from the dash to the bottom of the shifter housing? I’m reinstalling the column but not sure on the measurement.

If this is an early A column, The column should have a small opening on the top side where the tang on your bracket engages the column. That is all the movement your column should have for and aft. That bracket bolts to the 2 studs coming down through the bottom of the dash frame

There is a long slot on the top of the column... is that what your talking about?

Yes — that will provide any fore/aft adjustment.
