I just got back fom New Orleans picking up some quarter skins from a FABO member and while I was down there this gentleman told me and showed me a tilt steering column out of a 1978 Dodge Aspen and said he was going to put it in his Demon. It looked like it would fit and I would like to know if it is true. He was told all the wiring would connect in the plugs and it would bolt right up. My son is wanting to find one now to put in his 73 Dart Sport. Is this correct and if so, what other vehicles can I look for that will have the same column as a Dart Sport a-body fit. This is neat. I might just change the one in my Duster if this is possible. Thanks,Bill

That is not correct, it is not a "bolt right up" item. Lots of differences in the lengths, wiring, mounting- both under dash and firewall, etc., good luck finding an F body manual steering column too if thats what your needing. The words "Hens teeth" come to mind. And thats just 76-79's...80 is even more different since the ws wiper control moved to the stalk. More wiring headaches. And as if that wasnt enough, most if not all of the tilt columns I've seen were also cruise control equipped.
Can it be done? Sure, but its going to be far from a "bolt right up".
