Recently I dropped the column (again!) on my Dart to work on the instrument panel. I’ve done this a zillion times in the 39 years I’ve owned this car.
This time, though, I noticed this spacer sitting between the column and the column bracket. I assume it’s been there a long time.
I am guessing from the size and shape that it may be a shim spacer that goes on top of one of the three mounting studs. But the FSM diagram for the column does not show any spacers nor does the removal procedure mention them as a possibility.
Have any of you found these on your cars? How were they installed?
