i was wondering what the name is and who makes a replacement cover for the steering column joint. my dad cut out a piece of rubber from a bicycle's tire tube and ziptied it down, but it tore. the piece itself is outlined by the blue zipties

box type colum coupling rebuild kits are on ebay 15.00 for standard and 21 for improved.

'm not sure of the years but the factory part # is 4443436AC for the one on my 74 swinger and this is a kit for the whole rebuild lists for $10.50 and readily available next day from any mopar dealer (kit includes:shoes, spring, seal, retainer, and roll pin)

ive never heard a good thing about jims auto parts and have never seen a steering coupler seal that stayed on

The better of kits sold on ebay comes with instructions. That box cover is kinda like the lid of a paint can in that if you cave in the middle it wont seal or stay on.

A guy in Chelsea Michigan sells a heavy wire retainer to help keep the cap on the joint. It used to be a factory repair part. I used one on my duster. Can't think of his name. Maybe try Moparts.com somebody there might know of him. Cost was in the $10-$15 range if I can remember correctly.
