steering wheel fitment

I'm trying to fit a 1969 dart steering wheel to my 1968 dart. when I tighten it down it jams up. as anybody ever come across this situation, any help would be appreciated.

Where does it "jam up"? As in cannot turn it left-right? Or won't go down all the way onto the splines.

the steering column butts against the steering wheel. of course not allowing it to turn. its like I would have to remove 1/8" from the steering wheel collar. make sense to you.

Well since the steering shaft is located by the bearing, which is located to the collar, My guess is the parts are incompatible.

thanks aj, I dremelled a 32nd of an inch off the wheel collar and it works perfectly. sent a picture but not sure if I pulled it off.
