Looking for some input on aftermarket steering wheels. One I'm interested in says it fits a '69 Dodge Dart and a bunch of other Mopar stuff from '61-'69. I have a '73 Duster, manual steering box.

Other than having put an aftermarket steering wheel on my car, I have no knowledge about 'em. Is a '69 wheel different from a '73? Something that makes a X-fit a No Go? Shaft splines maybe.

Nothing wrong with what I have. It's been fine for years. It is a 13" wheel. I've grown a bit tired of not getting a good view of my tach...the wheel is in the way. A 14" wheel would be a considerable improvement.

Looking at this.

Thanks.

My understanding is when they changed to the column ignition in 70 the column got bigger. So the 73 wheel will not look right on a 69 (if it will even fit)

Well th'ar 'ya go. The change of key from dash to column didn't even occur to me. I didn't know the year that happened but certainly was around the cut-off dates for fit on the wheel I was looking at.

Thanks a bunch!

If you're using an aftermarket wheel, they generally sell different mounting kits for '69 and earlier cars versus '70 and later cars; the wheel itself remains the same just the adapter differs.
