I've tried everything I can to find out exactly what year the la 360 is and I'm still not 100% sure. The numbers on the front of the block are reading left to right top to bottom are: 3K(or possibly an R) 360 868
007592 342
The numbers on the bottom passenger side are 4179930-360-9

The number on the bottom oil filter side are: 5 28 79
Am I an idiot or is it 1979?
The transmission I think looks like a 904 from 1975 the numbers above the driver side pan are PK374347947943635.
It's bad enough that I'm a rookie, but trying to get the right parts when the car is a 71' the tranny is a 75' and the engine is possibly a 79' is not helping lol!!!

I am not really up on the casing numbers, but it looks like a 360 engine. Have you googled it to see what comes up?
Sorry this is all I can offer at this time. Good Luck

The block was cast on May 28, 1979.
According to your other numbers, it's a 360. To un-complicate things when ordering parts, order engine parts for a '79 360 car, a '75 904 car automatic, and the rest for a '71 Dart.
Most parts places and their employees will not be able to fathom the fact that you have a 360 in a '71 Dart because they never came with them from the factory, and all they know is to look up a part on the computer.
Most people can't fathom the fact that a lot of engines and transmissions etc. are interchangeable over many years and body styles.
Good luck..........
