Does anyone know the approx stall speeds of stock small block torque converters 318/340/360 ? and were there any stock Hi Stall coverters used in production ?
Some were higher than others, but a factory "high stall" isn't what an aftermarket high stall is.
Approximate stall speeds for particular convertors are listed in the FSM.
It will be hard to find a good 340 neutral balance one. Dayco no longer does them due to cores. Most guys get them refreshed that have um.
In the 80s-90s places like Turbo Action and Fairbanks would add 400 or 600 rpm to um and sell um. Fairbanks called the 2800 a Modified Hemi. The 340 high stall can be used on anything neutral balanced small or big block
