I used a similar technique. Tack weld a flat washer on the one side, poke a pointy bar through the flat washer, line 'er up, weld 'er down, break off the flat washer. If I was really feelin' my work, I'd leave the flat washers
Made panel flatter than curve in floor pan, so i could pull it into the arc. Im satisfied with the end result.

I would love a Top Banana Yellow Demon one with the Demon badge logo on the chest....if something like that would ever get made that is....
I'm sure they know the value. Whether $s or for re-use... This stuff has been coming apart piece by piece.
I'm sure some used those woods, as both of those trees are fairly common in this area. Most of what I have seen in buildings around here is yellow pine. But valuable just the same.
