It's Maverick Monday!

Good morning :D
That was a fun one being an all door. I think we had 1 Maverick at our local drag strip back in the day. I'll be darned if I saved a photo though. A fellow student in Tech School had a 302 4 speed Comet that was quick. Vertical Gate shifter for fun. There is a Comet sitting in a driveway on the way to the Downing house. I see it every time I drive by. It is a 302 car and in pretty good shape. I'm not a Ford fan but if I was looking for a project....... A guy in High School bought a black one. He had Cragar SS's on it second day he owned it. It was a 302 car. (second year of production I believe)

A high school buddy up the street had a Comet GT, 302 and 3spd . We had to remedy that. Out came the 3spd, in went the top loader 4spd, easy swap, the shifter hit the hole in the floor without mods . We took it out into the desert night to the illicit street activities, Greg launches, grabs a handful of second gear, shifter handle breaks off :wtf:. Greg drove it home with the help of a large phillips screw driver stuffed into the shifter mechanism

As a previous owner of 2 different Mavericks back in the day, I just don't understand the current appeal of them. Maybe it's because HP is relatively cheap these days, but even so....they were POS right outta the gate, as far as I'm concerned, and they rank right up there with Gremlins for "quality", both build-quality and materials-quality.

(shaking head here....)

Funny thing is… underneath, they were pretty much mustang. The brakes, suspension, engine and trans shared parts with the same years mustangs

I almost bought a Maverick back when i was starting out in auto school and didn't know the difference. 71 Maverick grabber with a 6 cylinder. It was very original and faded but it was the same price as a 74 duster. Yellow with twister stripes (not a true twister) with a 360 from an Aspen, rally wheels and slightly better shape than the Maverick.

I went with the duster otherwise I'd probably have a yard full of fords now

I know! (Or at least that was true for the early Mustangs). As a fan of '69 Mustangs (I've had three, and will probably buy another one someday), that fact always bugged me in the back of my mind.

But at least the '69 Mustang wasn't so god awful ugly!

This one is a steal!

Picking it up Wednesday. You need any of those files to copy?

Big Day tomorrow. Our financial advisor has been telling us for two years now that I could retire, but he’s never brought it down to the level where my third grade brain could see it. He says we’re making more on investments than I do on salary, but then he loses me with fancy-schmancy terms like withdrawal fees and early penalties……

Anyway, they just got some new software that we can play with that shows where we are at, what investments we can use (cash out) and when, our budgetary needs and expenses (etc, etc, world without end, Amen), and tomorrow afternoon we’re sitting down for 2 hours so that he and his partner can show me how we can make this happen, in a manner that I can understand.

I’m excited, apprehensive, and skeptical all at the same time, but we’ll see!
They will reach for the moon when they tell you how much money you're going to make. Look at about a 1/4 of what they tell you. Hope it works out for you and you can retire, I highly recommend it.

I haven’t found a mustang yet that I don’t think isn’t ugly. Worst body lines of any pony car

Morning, got some snow overnight and it 16deg out. Dogs had fun running in the snow on our walk. Oatmeal and coffee for breakfast, cold weather makes it taste better.
