Stopped driving the Valiant just in time

About a week ago I bought an old S10 Blazer to drive in the nasty weather and last night got rear ended. After getting things written up and moving on I thought "Good thing I wasnt in the Valiant". Heck of alot easier getting parts for an S10 and Im sure the insurance company wouldve totaled the Valiant without even looking at it. Ive been through two insurance battles the last few years. Never fun

Totaling it isn't all bad. My 65 Newport has been totalled 3 times. I just negotiate ~$500 off the total price to keep the car, then fix it myself for much less than they pay. No guilt that the insurance's body shop quoted "can't fix". They have even done that when the damage was a single door (deer ran into).
