I just purchased a Thermoquad for my 1971 Demon 340 from Summit Racing. I have yet to install it. Has anyone who purchased one had any good or bad luck with their's? Thank you everyone.

Did you open it up to check if it has the same jets (primary & secondary) as well as the same rods?

I have a 600 edelbrock on my 360 but I was looking into the summit thermoquad as well. Let us know what you think after you get it on.

Rumblefish360 I did not. To be honest, I wouldn't know what to look for. Summit does offer three different part numbers and applications for their Thermoquads if that helps answer your question.
Alpha13 and TF360, it will be a while before I get the car on the road, but I will let you know how it runs when I do. Thanks everyone.

I looked at their ad the other day. I was pretty turned off at some of the photos showing choke plates and air valve secondary plates with the finish blasted off and the upper bowl cover with the same:

....an obvious no-no to anyone who's done any TQ research. This means they've probably blasted the shafts as well and removed the protective coating there, too.

Hell that's good to know. Yes your right I don't know much about the thermoquad. I just know they make good power and get decent mileage.

Some very informative reading HERE:

And some interesting videos to watch HERE:

Both bear out the fact you need to be cautious about choosing a supplier for rebuilt TQs....

Quote from Gary Lewallen (author of the first article)

"Commercial rebuilders:
Carburetors that are mass rebuilt by commercial rebuilders have their useful service life shortened or ended. This usually stems from mixing parts, bad service procedures, and cleaning by tumbling or blasting. Tumbling and blasting removes the factory finishes. This leads to accelerated wear and corrosion problems. In the case of the TQ, the factory linkage was cadmium or irridite finished. The throttle shafts were Teflon coated. Tumbling or blasting removes these finishes and will lead to corroded sticking linkages and binding or leaky shafts. The TQ phenolic fuel bowl can be damaged by tumbling or blasting. Jets, rods and internal orifices are further damaged by these processes. Mixed parts without proper analysis can result in a poorly performing or useless unit. A carburetor from a rebuilder of this nature requires careful examination to determine its future usefulness."

Thank you Captainkirk. I'll be sure to look at what you sent me. I appreciate your input. Have a great weekend and take care.

You're quite welcome.
An hour's worth of videos and a few minutes reading and you will find your understanding of the TQ to be pretty substantial.
Good luck!
