Hello all, It has been a while since I have posted any updates about the dart. So here are some pictures and details of what I have been doing.
Here she is just off the trailer after we took her home. Not real pretty yet but her time is coming. Doesn't run at this point... Leaks.... No brakes... And later to find out several other major problems that had to be fixed.
Picture of the motor how it was when I first got it.
As you can see I couldn't wait to test fit some new wheels to see how they where going to look. Needed something to give me that motivation to keep going. So we stripped the entire car down to bare metal. And procceeded to apply the etching primer.
After the etching primer was applied. We sprayed several layers of sanding / filler primer and continued to do body work and block sanding for months and months. I made several mistakes in this process was my first time painting a car.
They when put on the epoxy primer sealer. This went on smooth.
Then a few layers of base coat. Now the color show in final pics does no justice to what it looks like in the sun. The paint has 3 different pearlescent paint colors. So its got some Gold, Red, Copper and a orange base along with the metal flake. So it the sun it really sparkels.
And then finally clear coat.
A lot of wet sanding and buffing mostly done by greendart72 (thanks) It is starting to look like something. So now this is just the paint the car also received all new suspension, Brakes, Interior, Engine work, Electrical, Exhaust and on and on.
I shaved the bumper and filled in any holes and removed bolt heads. Painted in black. I think it looks pretty cool! Also you can see the work done to the motor.
Another picture of the motor. Cleaned it up a bit added some shiney parts.
So there it is some quick and dirty updates on my project. Sad to say I have owned the car for near 2 years and have only driven it a few blocks.... But hopefully soon I will be able to take it to some shows. There is still a ton of work to be done.
