Two Wisconsin mechanical engineers were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.
A woman walks by and asks what they were doing.

'We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole,' said Sven, 'but we don't have a ladder.

The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocketbook, took a measurement,

announced, 'Eighteen feet, six inches, and walked away.

Ollie shook his head and laughed. 'Ain't that just like a woman!
We ask for the height and she gives us the length!'
Sven and Ollie are currently working for the United States Government.

LOL!

Does this have anything to do with todays College Bowl game?

Champs Sports
Wisconsin vs. Florida State Orlando, Fla.
Florida Citrus Bowl Dec. 27, 4:30 p.m. ESPN

I'm pulling for FSU by the way.

Why not tie a measuring tape to the rope for the flag, or even another piece of rope, and use that to measure how high up it goes. ;)

Bingo ecw329! Simply measure the length of the shadow, measure the inclination of the Sun and do some basic geometry.
...and I do not work for the government.

Cute joke.....

ocdart, Wish more smart people like you did work for the gov. We might not be in such a mess. Inclination of the sun...WOW....:-k....I must have missed that class :pale:

even easier, measure the flagpole shadow, your shadow and your height, then set up a proportion and solve... seventh grade math!
