Well about 6 years ago i had this damspot on my nose and my Family Doc burnt it off..Flippin hurt. It came back a few times and i picked it off and went awway. Well it came back approx 1 1/2 ago. Started gettin bigger. Well i just got it surgically removed to find out its BCC.....Basil Cell Carcinoma. It sucks but it could have been alot worse. I dont have clear margins so i have to go to see a plastic surgeon and they will just keep cuttin away until surrounding skin is clear.????? Hopefully not to much, i always say i have a big nose but !So PEOPLE,,,,,,,Look at yourself. If it dont look right...Get it checked out. My Family Doc dropped the ball on this.......I should have demanded a referal to a dermatologist

yes!!!! for sure!!!!! i'm 66, worked outside all my life. even the local " doctor wanna be", froze off places AND sent me to a dermatologist!!!!
skin cancer can be deadly.

Im in the health care profession. Being a guy and it not really bothering me i put it off...........Mistake. A orthopedis surgeon i work with took it off for me and sent it to pathology. Ive been waiting 11 months to get in to a dermatologist..no need now.

yep!! melanoma runs in my family so I get checked every 5 yrs. Many years of welding is what worries me.

I have a couple nasty moles I really need to get checked out. Same with my wisdom teeth. I use the common excuse that I can't get away from work.

Best of luck to you!

Man, really, dont put it off. Especially with moles.......Not trying to scare you but they are/can be the worse type.

umm ,yeah, melanoma, it grows down into muscle not out bound on the surface, irregular shaped and or black moles, get checked

George, alot can happen between 5 years. Just a sugestion.

yeah i know, my gp checks yearly and I go to dermatologist if anything looks suspicious, every 5 years at the dermatologist for a full body check is what I was implying. Im 44 and so far everything is good.

Crap. I just had a "pre cancerous" off my arm. I'm a regular hypo and run to the dermo with anything I see. And have checks every year. Or is that 6 months. Anyway, whatever.

My dad had a mole on his side removed 40 years ago. Came back about a year later so surgeon removed it and quite a bit around it. They told him don't worry we got it all, it was melanoma. So 6 years goes by and he slipped and hit his tail bone and neck started really hurting. The doctor told him ruptured disc and he was being a baby butch up. Mom insisted he see another doctor. He told him he thought it was a tumor and needed surgery right away. Well it was a melanoma tumor and they could not get all of it. He died 6 months later as the cancer raced through his body. The last few weeks was really bad and put him on morphine. Had a nurse help mom during the day and I would get up every 4 hours at night to give him shots. This was the darkest time in my life I think about him every day as he was and still is my hero. My dad was the greatest and toughest man I ever new. Don't mess with melanoma!

Yep, I have an appointment with a dermatologist next Tuesday to get some of the nasty's burned off my face. (first time) I probably won't be in any family Christmas photos, but that's fine if it does the job.

"AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE."

I get a zit that doesn't clear up right away, I'm asking questions.
A few years ago I had a growth come up on my elbow, that sucker would bleed if it got bumped. My doc cut it out, it hasn't come back, but I still would like to know why it popped up to begin with.

Gunbunny that's the after effect of all of that carbon fouling from shooting so much Charge 7 white bags! (it's an Artillery thing y'all!!!).

Just had a mole that turned black in the last 6 months taken off.

I was at the skin doctor anyway and asked them about it , a biopsy and then two weeks later it came off.

Man they took out a large piece of skin for such a small mole, was on my fore arm and I can feel it pulling against the stitches just typing

don' worry bout that doc frezzing the boogers! will be a little red and tender but that's all.

my dermatologist told me these " precancer" things, that 1 in 20 on average will turn into some form of cancer. I see her every 6 mo. if that talks care of them, then see her once a year.

yes, we should all be well aware of this and TAKE care of it , but put things off!

ISEERED!ISEERED!ISEERED!
No doubt! My ears sing, my knees ache, my shoulders ache, and the T.V. is turned all the way up. Lord knows I had my arms shoved up that tube with a swab!

Just had a couple more spots frozen on my face. Dermot has suggested seeing him every 6 months instead of yearly. Skin cancer is no joke.

I go to my dermatologist for a full body mole checkup every 6 months, & this last July they found a spot that was malanoma skin cancer stage 2. I had surgery & I'm cancer free today. This is very serious stuff. Get it looked at as soon as possible, people. Good luck to everyone who is dealing with this kind of issues.

Lost a chunk of one of my tattoos to skin cancer. Doc did a good job with the stitches....did not feel any pulling. He did both internal and external stitches...The worse was when the stitches came out, the itching drove me nuts...

Im happy i got some replies. Its definately something we all can shrug off. I know i did. The Doc that ive worked with for 16years talked to me today. He is sad he didnt get it all and i have to go through all this now. I told him if it wasnt for him and his time i wouldnt even know what i have. Now i do and can go from there. Hes not a plastic surgeon and from what i see on my face..he did a hell of a job. Unfortunately he told me i may lose alot of my left side of my nose. As long as im able to over come it i dont care........Maybe a big Mopar "M" to cover it until im good???????????

Got a call today. Going in for consultation and surgery Jan. 2nd 2015. I know i will be able to kick this but im nervous.....The surgeon i work with gave me the heads up on this. They get you ready and start cutting away and check there skin samples from you under a microscope. They will keep going until they get clear skin without any cancer cells.Im not nervous/scared about the cancer its what will be gone. Being possibly disfigured isnt really a issue either its that if it happens to be bad am i going to be able to work? I look after alot of people alot kids......Not sure if its going to go over well is all.I was off with my back for 6 months and with all these dam health care cuts im nervous...........

Sorry to read this Ed, like you I shrug stuff off and put it on the back burner. One of these days Ill learn. Try not to worry bout the after effects they'll get it all before they mark you up too bad.
As for your job, they cant get "rid" of you for medical reasons.

I looked real close at myself and smelled something. I farted.

Seriously, we're prayin for you Edd that it doesn't come back.
