Anyone used Tamco paint? They say the can mix up in factory colors in single stage urethane or base coat clear. I see a bunch of youtubers using it with great success. It much more affordable than PPG .
well I can tell ya i’m not paying 2 grand on ppg paint. No idea but generally you get what you pay for with paints.
Amen to TCP. TCP carries their own line of paint. Go to their website and look up their Restoration Shop Color Library. Pretty much any color ever painted on a car can be mixed. It is less than half the cost of PPG. I have also used their Primers with great success. I REALLY like their epoxy primer which can also be used as a sealer when you mix in one part of reducer. Their paint sprays, hides, and flows as well as anything I have ever used. They have two clears. I use their 2020 clear. It is their better one, and it is amazing.I've used their primers with good success. Went with TCP Global for paint since they have more reviews and the pricing is pretty similar.
If you used all PPG products on your car to include primers, base and clears, You will probably have more like $4,000 in materials. As it is, if you are going with a COMPLETE respray (door jams, backs of hood, doors, etc.), You will likely have about $2,000 in materials. Even at TCP prices, you will need Epoxy Primer, body filler (do NOT use cheap filler), spot putty/filler, lots of sandpaper (80, 120, 220, 320 and 400 for body work and block sanding, and wet paper in 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 for color sanding the clear), guide coat, paint, clear, assorted hardeners and reducers, tack cloths, a wax and grease remover, polishes and buffing pads.well I can tell ya i’m not paying 2 grand on ppg paint.
I'll start by saying this. If your going to try Tamco, Start with the 5300 series primer. It sprays and blocks sands amazing. I'm using Tamco everything on my car and just because its inexpensive doesn't mean it cheap. Quality is on par or better then the big name guys(PPG, Dupont etc.) View attachment 1715745988 View attachment 1715745989
