I ream spindles out quite often.

FYI: They are forged steel and a cheap Chinese reamer is not going to cut it very well, or give you a smooth finish.

Here's a couple photos of how I do mine.

I have 2 tapered reamers just like those I purchased over 30 years ago.

Still working great yet today and have never sharpened them yet, although they do have a few nicks in them.

Purchased them for drilling Semi-Tractor Truck frames, progressively drilling to 1/2" and 5/8" finished holes.

Started holes with 3/16" then to 1/4" then to 3/8" then on to the tapered reamers to finish, chucked up into my air drills, all drilled by hand.

Have been useful over the years for many fabricating tasks.

Amazon $65. Just reamed both spindles. It cut through them like butter, left a smooth finish and was still razor sharp after I was done. I grazed one of the reamer edges with my thumb and it damn near cut it to the bone it was so sharp.
