very interesting. most tests were performed at 1250rpm which may explain why output is low at a low idle.
 
Excellent! That was back in the day of component service level. Good tests to do on rebuilt units from parts stores.

The special in circuit diode tester uses a low voltage AC transformer and current measuring circuit. A scope works too.
