    I'm pretty sure the last one we did, you use the magnum pan with the one peice gasket, there is no cutting or splicing of anything.

    Yes. I think it's when you use the LA oil pan and a one peice magnum gasket that you have that gap to fill with sealer

      It might be. That's good info to know. I thought it was for LA cover with the one piece gasket.

      It's the LA pan on a Magnum where you have to goop the gaps if you use the one piece gasket. The timing covers are the same at the bottom.

        I thought it was the LA cover that mattered, not the pan. Maybe it's the LA cover with the Magnum pan.
