Got off of the phone with the machine shop. Block (383) checked out ok, proceeding with build. Get this they said the alignment of the mains was OK. Always had to get that done in the past. Maybe its a good omen. here's what I'm doing. 383 +.030. TRW 12.5 pistons which coupled with my 89cc open chamber iron heads will end up around 10.5:1. Had some NOS 383 rods which are getting redone with ARP bolts. Crank's getting cut .010-.010 and shooting for .0025 clearance. Probably gonna use a Compcams 285HL hydraulic cam along with good pocket ported iron heads with big valves and a M1 single plane intake. Shooting for 480-500hp. Got a Turbo action 10" convertor (3600) . Can't wait. They said about 3 weeks. Come on warm weather!

Sounds like its gonna be one badass monster in the making. Post some pics of it up when your done Id like to see. Good luck.

Cool!

I like 383's. They get largely ignored in todays world of bigger is better.

IMHO, they are like a big small block in thier ability to rev and breath.

Make sure to get it balanced.

Man you are so right. I have a 400 in my Magnum now that will probably be pulled out in (Gas mileage wise) favor of a 360 soon. I'll use the 400 in the Duster after a 318 diddle play.

sounds good don! that combo sounds like a beast waiting to be unleashed with a push of a throttle!

keep us posted.

what machine shop are you using. I will be doing a 360 block next year and need a decent machine shop in detroit area. Not sure yet if I am using a magnum block or a la block (I have both).
thanks

I'm using Automotive Machine in Fraser. At the intersection of garfield and utica roads. 586 296-6501 they were highly recommended by a few people I know.
