Just found this video, lots of us remember Garlits when he got his car cut in half by an exploding clutch, here is "The 1970 U.S. Nationals Top Fuel final, Don Prudhomme vs. Jim Nicoll. Nicoll’s clutch explodes at the finish line, cutting his front-engine dragster in two at his feet."

And yet he was not badly hurt!!!

Prudhomme won----by about a yard
