I have looked at and studied and price checked just about every paint online humanly possible. And with alot of recommendations I have decided to go with southern polyurethanes (Spi) epoxy primer and clearcoat. I'm gonna try the epoxy first and see if I need a high build If not I will just stick with their epoxy if I think I think I do need a high build I will buy a quart of their 2k HB for the places I that needs it. As far as the basecoat goes I'm thinking of using this. It's a urethane basecoat mixed to match the factory fk5 color! It's a 2:1 mix so for about 405 dollars I get a gallon and a half. Has anyone used their paint before is it good stuff?

My other option is this stuff and I'm actually gonna get a small can of it just to try out on my engine bay. Its urethane also but its premixed and thinned ready to spray so it's a little more expensive (by the ounce) about 325 for 1 gallon. But its premixed so a gallon is all you get.

Let me know if you have any experience with any of these products likes, dislikes, suggestions a
I'm open to anything. I appreciate all the help thus far and I appreciate the ones that told me about the spi stuff its actually a really good deal as far as the price goes and from the reviews it's really good stuff at the same price as the questionable quality primer!

I am going to use 27 dollar a gallon Rustoleum oil based paint on mine after epoxy primer and a sandable primer. I've seen it properly prepared before on the Duster @clhyer owns and it looks fantastic. I do at least plan to spray it on. lol

This is it 3 1/2 years after paint. This was in 2015, I believe. It still looks great.

That's what I used on all my suspension parts it turned out really well. I actually planned on spraying the rest I have leftover on the car just until I get to the body work stage. I'm gonna primer paint and clear the engine bay so I can get the engine in. Its probably gonna be a little while before I start the bodywork. I sprayed one quarter just to clean out my gun here are the before and after looks pretty good considering I didint even clean it i just sprayed straight over dirty old paint.

Ii use TCP Global primers, and acrylic urethane. Have for 6-7 years, more than a few cars, I have no problems, works well, takes them a while to ship, I have been told it can be shipped thru local Walmart on the cheap!!????? I have never used their bc/cc but next car I just might. Ii would not b afraid of it at all.
I bet someone on here has used their bc/cc and will give their opinion.

The more $ we pay for paints, basically, the better UV protection it gives. Yes some flow better, some cover better. Some of it depends on the amount of solids. This is also why aerosols don't do ask well, plus there is no hardner in it.

I tried the Southern Urethanes epoxy primer recently and was impressed with its ability to cover, it sticks like all epoxies I have used, I like it. The tech support was great there too. You can tell they are good people, I believe.
