Awesome read, I was always under the impression the 340 AVS was 554 CFM.

s per the old Carter tech line, they were rated at 630cfm.
The AVS comes in 2 sizes, big and small, the big one is rated at 750 cfm. And it works really well on a stock 340!

Depends who rated them and how.
Carter's ratings may have been "adjusted" on the high side, compared to "some" other manufacturers. At least that was the scuttlebutt, back in the day.
On the street it really doesn't much matter, so long as the carb is not too far out of the ballpark.
Very few street engines are gonna be choked, cuz guys always go for more carb than their engines can pull anyway. But a bigger problem is a too-big square-bore carb. It will probably suffer from driveability issues. Not to worry, the TQ has very small primaries, and either of them can be a dream to drive.

The 750 AVS works well on anything. My brother had mine on his 289 Mustang and would not give it back.
