I'm looking for a thermostat housing that is 90 degrees and swivels for my 340. What will work? Edelbrock makes one (#4814) that is supposedly for small block Chrysler and Chevy according to Summit Racing. If my memory serves me right, Chrysler recessed their stats into the housing and GM recessed theirs into the intake. I don't understand how it can work for both. Also, I'm not looking to spend a $100 just for a housing either. Any suggestions?

I was in the market for a similar water neck a while back and there just aren't a lot of choices. The CVR units (e.g. TSH8CL) are quite nice, but a bit pricey ($87 at Summit). The price is right on the Edelbrock unit, but it looked sketchy to me - the fact that it's a somewhat "Universal" Mopar/Chevy part is scary as well. In the end, I decided to run a more traditional water neck/hose configuration. Good luck!

What does it matter if the thermostat sits into the housing or into the manifold? There is a recess, and it fits into it. And yes, for the most part the Chevy parts will fit on the Mopars. I've had great luck with the billet aluminum housings that use an o-ring to seal. No more gaskets or goop: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bsp-90820/overview/make/dodge If I needed a 90° unit I'd certainly consider the CVR one with the o-ring: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cvs-tsh8cl/overview/make/dodge IMHO the o-ring type is the only way to go if you don't like coolant seepage/leaks. Yes they are expensive, but well worth it.

Why it matters is because the thermostat needs to sit in a recess to allow for sealing, especially with an O-ring design. My intake doesn't have a recess and if chevy has a recess in their intake, then chances are there wouldn't be a recess in a thermostat housing designed to be used with a chevy.

I decided to use the stock straight thermostat housing and just use a longer hose.
