This is just a shout out. I was a fan of the REAL GASKET thermostat housing gasket.
It's a silicone gasket that is about 1/8" thick and cured my leaking problems. I had a Milodon hi Flo water pump, it started leaking with less than 500 miles, so I switched to the Flowkooler hi volume pump. It advertised higher water pressure and flow, it sure does, it blew the REAL GASKET that I liked out twice. I knew that I was going to have to switch to some kind of o-ringed housing. I ended up with a Flash power housing, it works. The only mod was to the Flowkooler thermostat, which is a Robert Shaw, the large one, '78 and earlier. I had to take 10 ths/ 20 off of the diameter. I torqued the supplied Allen head bolts at 25 in lbs. It works and is black anodized. Note on the thermostat, the bottom cover, it turns, kinda can act like a shutter, close open. Wondering if that can or has been a flow problem that some of us could not explain. I happened to notice it this time around, mine is open now.

I'm a big fan of running a restriction ring in lieu of a thermostat.

You'll be happy with the o-ring housing.
