Thieves

Well seeing as I am a teenager still I try to tell my dad to invest in some kind of alarm system. I don't know, he plans on building a new garage soon, so I hope I can influence him to get some kind of high tech alarm...either loud enough so the neighborhood can hear it (lol) or that calls the police if the "password" on the number pad isn't entered within a minute or so.

Those rims will have to show up sometime, somewhere, and with the help of the honest Mopar enthusiasts out here they`ll be recovered and the creep prosecuted.

Do you have any dogs? Barking dogs or mean dogs that love to bite help out a great deal also. Tell your dad you want a pit or a roc LOL!

The police told my boss man the same thing about his brand new Bobcat skid steer that got stole seven years ago. Hadn't heard anything on it since the law took the report. The foreman basically blew the police out because it took them forever to come out and even look at the crime scene. He told them "What are doing..... giveing them time to get gone so you can get your cut out of it!! LOL!

Lol a shop dog would be good but we have cats...lol, they run away at unknown people. My dad does not really like big dogs either, if we got one it would be a smaller dog anyway...

Sorry for the losses, folks. Nothing worse than a Mopar guy stealing from a Mopar guy. (Too bad there aren't public punishments anymore.) As prices rise and wages don't, I expect theft problem will get worse. I'd probably talk to a guy around the car with the garage door shut. I don't talk about what's in the garage, either. A good ol' boy once told me, "They gotta know it's there fore they can steal it."

I found one of my kids' battery powered riding toys that had been stolen laying in a front yard here in town. When it was stolen I had reported it to the Police so I stopped by the station & told them I had seen it & where it was. The Chief of Police said something like "Oh, yeah, it's been sitting there for like a month. I figured you'd drive by & see it there & pick it up." (Small town.) I told him I don't have any friends down that way so I don't drive down that road very often. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to call them.

Mullinax95, how much was your scanner? I have an older Bearcat scanner but since everything here went digital about all I ever pick up now is the weather station & a few peoples' cordless phone calls. :-D

even here in oakland, with my pits, no one dares try to enter my shop or home. big dogs help. intimidating looking dogs help even more. dogs definitely do hinder thieves. my pitbull sign on the gate says "i can make it to the gate in 2.3 seconds, can you?"

I had a Bearcat XLT60 and gave it to my mother. County still uses conventional but mostly digital. There are basically three different type scanners. One is the old style like you have which is conventional. Two is a Trunking scanner which can pick up conventional and Trunk frequencies. Three is a digital, trunk, conventional. To pick up digital the scanner has to be able to pick up trunk (talk groups) in which are in the 800Mkz range.

The scanner I have was $459. They range from $450-$500. It really depends on where you get it. I got mine off of Ebag.

Here is a link to explain about trunking.

This link is full of info to help get you started. I had to learn all about the newer type systems that the police etc.. use now and days.

If you decide to up grade don't hesitate to PM me for any questions. To finally get my scanner to pick up systems in my area I did some stuff the hard way so I help you avoid those LOL.

It is very confusing but once you learn how the newer systems work it becomes very nice.

Redfastback;

I agree that dogs are a great deterrent. Even the neighborhood brats cross the street when coming near the house. The German Shepherd and Rottie mix have a ferocious bark. I like your sign. I was thinking of one along the lines of "These Premises Patroled by ShepRott Security"

Good idea Mullinax,

I got a Bearcat from a pawn shop about 7 years ago for $40, but it's the analog style and I need to upgrade.

Thanks to a good network of commuiucation from diligent individuals, the wheels have been returned.

Several people have been told of this incident and it must have gotten back to the individual or individuals who liberated them.

Thanks again for your support!
