I just noticed this sign a couple of weeks ago while going to visit my mom. It looks pretty new, and I don't recall it being there two months or so ago. :banghead:

Something tells me that it's an accident waiting to happen. Not "IF", but "WHEN".... :violent1:


Sooner or later some idiot is either not going to see this sign, or ignore it and #*@%^^@ :axe:


You would think that they could build some protective cover over the pipe to help protect it and prevent another "spill".... :oops:

This is pretty much how it's done.

The dredging equipment has a tremendous amount of force and to build a shield over the pipeline that could stand up to it just isn't going to happen.

Anytime someone digs in the ground they are supposed to call for utility locates..in this case the sign is a great notice. This could just as easily have been a fiber optic communication line, water, or sewer pipeline.
 
My concern is that some "weekend warrior" boater is going to anchor there... Don't underestimate the "power" of our idiots... :violent1:


Our aquafur is already "compromised" from the nuclear reactors that were buried from the Manhattan Project. One of them was buried under a lake and it turned out that it leaked. :oops:

They originally buried it with cement walls on all four sides and a cement top. Well... the radioactivity leaked out the bottom and contaminated the lake. They then drained the lake, dug it up and put a cement slab on the bottom with four walls and a cement top. :violent1:


This is less than 5 miles from my house which was originally built with it's own water well. We have since been converted to city water, but I'm concerned that my well is contaminated. I'm afraid to even use it for my garden. Three people on my street have died from Parkinson's or Lou Gehrig's disease (I can't remember which one it is) on a dead end street with only 9 houses on it... That disease very rare for 3 people on the same street to get it... It makes you wonder if the radioactivity from the Manhattan Project had any affect on that. :banghead:

There is also a herd of white deer running around near Argonne National Laboratory where the Manhattan Project was held (again, about 7 miles from my house). The rest of the deer around here are brown.

Not to mention that Crestwoood, IL is going through many lawsuits for using a known contaminated well for 20-25 years while telling everybody that they weren't. They finally got caught red handed around 2006. Just google "Crestwood, IL water supply" and see what comes up. This is also about 7 miles from my house in the opposite direction... (I'm surrounded by a--holes)...

Better make sure it doesnt have a nipple....my bro-in-law has 3 nuts,no ****...but I suspect he just beat one of them in two...lmao
 
I used to work pipeline. The few river or water crossings we did, we dug under the river and buried it. I suppose sometimes its just not possible to do. Like stated this is not a uncommon practice although I understand your concern.
 
Those signs are all over the place in south Louisiana where I'm from. We boated and fished around them all the time. They must be nice and deep, we never heard of one being hit. Mostly petroleum pipelines down there.:mumum:

I can only hope that they did bury the pipes under the canal and not just run them along the bottom.

I cant believe that Crestwood was lied to for over 20 Years!
 
That sucks kuda.
I see that BP is being allowed back in the Gulf again, AND that Exxon Mobile teamed up with a Russian company Rosneft and got an approximate 11,000 acre drilling lease down there in the gulf also.

You could just move and that would remove that worry.
 
The petrochemical industry is one of the reasons we moved out of south Louisiana. We love the food and people, our families are still there, but I don't love cancer.....:tongue2:
