Yeah but back then that was a lot of money. So much that that thing wouldda sat right there......like a lot of them did.

Did a quick Google of the 'average wage' in 1970. It came to about $6,600 a year. So $4393 seems like a small amount of money today. In 1970 it looks to have been about 8 months worth of work. Not sure many fellas or gals could have afforded that?

Yup, just slap an extra "0" on those numbers and it helps visualize the cost in todays money.

Making $66,000 a year would buying a $43,900 car be a good idea? No.

As a frame of reference, my Dad bought a new '69 Coronet Convertible in January 1969, in Toronto, for $3200.00.

The Superbird is as practical today as it was in 1970.
It's just worth more today because of the ''oooh ahhh'' factor.

Actually it's worth today is based on it's low production number and it's significance in automotive history.

Buddy bought a super bird in 77 for $2,000 was a 440 4 barrel auto on the column, alpine white black top & interior, but had been painted black before he bought it

In 1977 ordered a new Aspen with almost every available option, base price on aspen coupe $3,500 and list price on my car, $6,900, paid $6,300 for it my payment was $173.40 for 36 months, good thing I was living at home and working at Chrysler making $200 a week

Hemi option was about $800 too expensive for most guys
