I just installed the bracket Holley sells for their Sniper unit which helps with throttle response.

Here's the original throttle cable attachment to the Sniper unit.

Here's the throttle attchment to the new bracket

And here's what it looks like at full throttle

My concern is that the throttle cable looks like it could eventually weaken and break after too many full throttle pulls, given the geometry of the action. Granted, full throttle drives are few and far between as this is a street car, but I do like to romp on it from time to time. I tried loosening the attachment bracket so that it can swivel, but it's too short and catched on the bracket before it reaches "full throttle" stop.

What are your thoughts?

The top screw should be loose enough so the strap can swivel. A nyloc nut should work well.

I don't really like the angle the cable base is at with respect to the attachment point on the carb. Might want to tweak the manifold mount. Where the sheathing is clamped down

Did you find the original location to be too sensitive?

There is a nyloc nut on the cable now but even with it loose, the "U" bracket is too short to clear the end of the new holley bracket I installed. I've not too worried about the manifold mount as the cable still runs pretty smooth at the current angle but I could probably bend it up a tad.

Yes, the original location is quite "twitchy" regarding throttle input. As I'm going to ditch the auto tranny and go with a 5 speed, I wanted the throttle response to be a bit smoother.

Thanks guys for all the help. I should have figured this out for myself. I modified the attachment so that the U bracket now swivels on the outside of the new extension.

It looks like your throttle cable is bent, right at the ball on the end of it. You might ought to take it back loose and straighten it. Doesn't look like it will live long that way.
