Not new, just newly registered. I've done vintage British and Japanese bikes, Toyota and Mazda autocrossers, had a 1966 440 wagon that I dragged in the late 1980's, and built a warmed-over 318 Dart in the early 1990's. Didn't think I'd get around to another muscle car until this one fell into my lap.

So, now I'm deep into a resto-mod 1972 340 Duster.

It was a mess, so I don't have hard feelings about not doing a pure resto. It's now got an 11:1 roller cam motor, ported Edelbrock heads, with an Eagle rotating assembly. Randy Ray went through the 727, which is mated to a Hughes 3000rpm converter. TTI headers, feed a TTI x-pipe exhaust. The Doctor Diff SureGrip 8 3/4 has beefed up axles, but only a 3.55 to keep it manageble on long drives. (I do think 3.91's are in our future - but I want to drive it for a bit first.) The chassis has a US Car Tools stage 2 stiffening kit, full Hotchkiss sport suspension, QA1 k-frame and lower control arms, and Wilwood big disks. Finally, I've converted to a quick ratio PST manual steering gear.

Anyway, It was mostly in bits when it came to me. As she goes back together, I'm on the slow road of figuring out what I do and don't have. What can be fixed. What merely needs cleaning, and painting - and what's jacked and needs to be replaced. Not being the guy who pulled it apart (something I typically document very well and do slowly and meticulously) has put me at a real disadvantage. But, FABO has been a huge help - even if I was just a lurker. So, thank you all.

Welcome to FABO, sounds like you have a pretty good project, snap a couple of photos when you got the chance. We like photos.

Welcome from WI. As mentioned, need some pics

Okay folks, I hear you. I'll add a few at a time.

Starting with the numbers-matching 340... The Lunati roller is 282/290 (231/239 @ .050), with .535/.550 lift. It took a little fly-cutting to get the installed height and nose and seat pressure perfect for the beehive springs folks recommend around here. Power curve should come on around 2200 and carry through 6500 rpms.

It was a little rough when it came to me. And, the heat marks on the number 4 and 5 rod big ends were the least of it.

New rockers, floor pans, partial quarters were needed to deal with the rust. I also had to source fenders, hood and a trunk lid to deal with rust, wrinkles and poor repairs.

So, anyway... I'm turning the corner to reassembly. But, from the steering column to the heater box - everything's been molested or is in need of help. It'll be a while, to say the least.
