Timing chain advice

VVT blocks are different from the early blocks at the front of the cam tunnel. Extra casting on the front of the VVT block for the oiling of the cam phaser/upper cam gear.

Wow, so then there's no way to convert yours to the non VVT? That kinda blows. But I guess if the stock chains work, then go for it.

Yeah hard to believe they haven't coke up with something yet. Oh well as long as it works plus

So I can just use a non vvt timing set. I didn't know if that was possible even with locking it out.

OK I'm going to ask
Why would you want to lock out the VVT?
All the highest performance production engines on the planet use some form of variable valve timing, it is a very sound engineering practice.
I would be looking for a way keep it.

No doubt it's great technology but I'm running a carburetor no efi. The vvt can become an issue when large cams are used. Most either lock it fully of partially so there isn't piston to valve clearance issues
