I just put in an new Comp Cam XE268H in my 73 Dart Sport 318. Does a new cam run different timing specs or should I just set it to factory specs?

i would start from scratch. probably end up somewhere int he ball park of 17 initial and 35 total..

Start around 16 initial and limit the mechanical. Isn't a "book" number that will help you.

Use a vacuum gauge, or just keep giving it more initial if it picks up rpm, resetting the idle speed to around 800 or so. You'll find a sweet spot. As long as the engine doesn't kick back when starting warm/hot, you have your initial setting. Limit mechanical to hit your total number and you're ready to go.

Good article joe posted too.
