.... I haven't looked into it but can I buy a larger stop to lower total advance?

Four Seconds Flat sells larger inserts than what comes with the MSD distributor.

Locking it out is still an option.

If you lock it out, you need to set the timing at shift RPM and no lower. If that’s 7500 then that’s where you set it.
