timming gear question

I was looking at these gears on ebay and wondering what they are? Are they for use without a timming chain and just gear drive.

Yes, they are designed to replace a timing chain. Those particular ones are actually less accurrate than a good chain but they make a pretty cool sounding whine. The top end gear drives would be the Milodon one that does not use dual idler gears.
