Tire fitment question-HELP

I have a 73 duster with a b-body axle. (1" wider) The 255-60-15 tires i have on the stock 15 x 8 rallye wheels rub on the fender. Im thinking i need a custom backspace and smaller tires, does anyone have a combo that works without rubbing?

not sure what you mean but by adding more backspacing to a rim it puts the centerline of the outer rim (where the tire mounts) more twords the center of the car, or puts the center of the rim closer to flush to the outside... how ever you want to look at it...

look to see how much clearance you have between the leaf spring and the tire... if there is an inch you could go 1/2" more Backspacing (BS)...

what are you running now for BS??

I run P265/50R15 on my 73 Dart Sport and 15X8 wheels and have a ton of room. I am thinking of going to P295/50R15 as a matter of fact.

Yes i have the std 15 x 8 with 4 1/2 backspacing with 255-60-15 tires and the hit the fender when the suspension compresses
