I think this might be the right place to ask. I am in need of new tires on my 68 Barracuda fastback. I cant afford new wheels so I am after tires for a 14 inch wheel. I need cheep tires and the only size I can find in my price range are a bit narrow. Would these tires be OK for street and strip?

Rear: 215/75r14 26.70 tall and width 8.46

Front 195/75r14 25.52 tall and width 7.76

Let me know what all you guys and girls think

Thank you

Brad

i put primewell raised white letter tires on my dart sport painted the steelies black crome lug nuts and new dust covers looked decent and all four tires cost about $150

I can get all four for $236. I just don't know if the size will be too narrow to do any good on the track. I also need it to drive on the street a little.

if your running a stock steel wheel your not gonna get anything really wide on there i had the biggest tire possible on my car and it was still small sorry but i forget the size

primewell sport ps860 thats all i could read off of the picture

oops sorry bout that i thought you were talking about running steelies someone else can help you out on here since i am not informative on sizes for a barracuda

Thats allright I thank you for all your help. Its my fault I ment too narrow for any good traction. I guess that goes for fitting on the wheel as well.

I would reconsider the 195-75-14s for the front...... At least go to a 205-70-14, I think it would be a little nicer tire on the street.

The 215-75-14 on the rear are tall and may cut into your gear ratio.... But I don't know what that is.

As far as track use....... You really need the suspension working to effectively race on a standard street radial (I don't know what power you will be putting down).

I still say if you are on a budget...... 215-70-14 (all the way around), 205-70-14-front with 215-70-14-rear, or 205-70-14 (all the way around).

Then.... Just get a set of slicks for the rear when money allows.

(NOTE..... I realize other tire sizes will fit but the key word here is Budget... When you move beyond the sizes listed cost increases quickly)

Why is that? Is that a bad tire for the front?

No... Its not bad but a 205-70-14 would be better. You said Street/Strip. A 205-70-14 would be better vs a 195-75-14 on the street and and not change a thing at the track.

Same with the 215-70-14.....

My only concern is the 215/70r14 is only 25.85 inches tall. Is that too short? I will be running 3.91 in the rear.

I didn't know your rear ratio.. You may want to go with one of the taller tires in the rear, but for a 215-75-14 I'm not finding muck (tirerack.com only has trailer tires in that size)

I have seen this tire before and it is a good tire.
