I have seen a few later A body 5 and 6 speed swaps. Im very impressed with the amout of talent here.
I have not seen a 64-66 here, Maybe I missed it. The issue that seem to arrise is the cutting of the torsion crosmember and lack of a good resource to reinforce with off the shelf parts.
I see some using a tranmission hoop. I would be curious if this approch would work with the earlier cars. I do see the transmission crossmember is a diffent part, therefore may not fit as has in the past for others.

Does anyone know the dimentions for the later A body transmission crossmember, compaired to the 64-66?

There is a real need for that transmission hoop for these 5 and 6 speed swaps. The massive tunnel from us tool is like wacking a mosqito with a sawed off shot gun.

Im thinking of buying the BHS578 and modifing it but that is more work than it could be? Im not sure why SST dosnt just make them for each kit. they have you cut apart structual elements of the car and instal a perfect fit kit, but neglect to tell you how to reinforce the framework they tell you to cut. Seem a little off...

any solutions out there?

heres the 2 differnt crossmember sold by SST mentioned here. It seems the BHS578 tranny hoop works for the 67-76.
Theres nothing Im aware of for the 64-66.. could we get the BHS578 to fit?

Greg @slant six has done a T5 in an early A body. Search for his thread. A lot of the work is similar. I have everything to do a T5 swap in my 64 Valiant Vixen. Except the motivation. LOL

Unfortunatly the search came up with nothing, Did he use that massive tunnel or reinforce the torsion crossmember? I know some dont find it to be a requirment.

here's a side by side vid-ya from the tubes

narrow body with a 4spd and the factory small bell is tight, and you have limited exhaust options.

i know the later 67+ bell does fit with some mods, so expect that and more with an aftermarket bell-- unless you use an adapter to a factory bell.

either way, you're cutting the floor up and exhaust is going to be interesting (read expensive)

It works okay I would say..

Towed a trailer with it too.

The Cop stopped to chat with us at the lookout while we were there taking in the beautiful scenery. Nice Guy!

He checked in on us, but did not give us any trouble at all. He gets it.

What are you running for an engine and intended use? V8 T5's can only go so far (the Ford 5.0 version, in stock from), which is why the Tremec 3550 was made to replace it in higher power applications and then became the TKO, TKO II, 500, 600 and now the TKX.

With either box your going to have to do some floor pan and structural work.

A-body A833 has the shifter mount behind the trans mount.

There are different versions of TKX shifters, for example this offset, behind the trans mount, may put the shifter in roughly the same place as stock.
