You are not going to believe what happened to me today :cussing:
I took the time to put new wheel bearings, remount trolling motor, Charge the battery, And do a new light connector installed for the year. OK
My brothers birthday was today so I took him to a lake he wanted to try.
I back the boat in to the water and was showing brother how I load and unload the boat by my self.
I tie a lead rope to the front of the boat and back it into the water and then the tailor pulls the boat to the bank. Simple enough

NOT !!!!!!!!!!

The rope snapped!and it was on its own the wind was blowing it out even farther. Guess what I did then. :butthead: Yep

I dove in after my boat that was getting farther and farther away.
Yes I did take my wallet, sigs, and hat off before the first plunge in 07.
When I made it to the boat.{huffinpuffin} I climbed in sat on may seat and
flipped on the trolling motor.
The stupid thing would not turn on :cussing: Tiered from my swim to the boat
with a 10mp wind I watched the bank get farther away, Grabbed the oar and started sculling :sleepy3:
There was about 5 men and 1 young girl seen every thing that has happened
Brother enjoyed this day I took him fishing on his 50th birthday.

I just got up from a three hour nap and had to let yall :toothy7:

Mike, that is too funny, looking back on it, of course. Those things always seem to happen when there is an audience. I boated for years in the Northeast and now Florida east coast and I've seen some of the funniest events I can remember near the ramps and docks. I remember once after a day of fishing, a bunch of us were having a couple cold ones and cleaning our boats in their slips at our marina, when a 22ft sailboat with sails down and a 25hp kicker controlling boat, went past us heading to their slip, the last one before hitting land, way too fast. There were two guys and a dog on the boat, and one guy had outboard in reverse trying to stop boat, the other was yelling and running in circles with the dog barking like crazy. It was easy to see they weren't going to stop in time so the guy on the motor gave it full throttle in reverse and right then the motor jumped off the boat and ggurgled into the water, with the boat smacking into a nice 28ft Sportfisherman boat. We all helped get the boat secured so the owner decided to dive in with a rope and try to get outboard back. Well, as soon as he jumped in, so did the dog. It took him about ten minutes but he finally rounded up the dog and they tied him to the rail of the boat. Ok, now he gets the rope and dives for the motor again. Guess what? Thats right, the dog jumps for the water again, this time suspending itself off the side of the sailboat. We ran right over and freed the dog, but I have to tell you, we laughed so hard we were actually crying. Mike

What's the phrase," A bad day fishing beats a good day working" or something like that? Tell us, is that REALLY true?

My what a brother, Memike you gave your brother a day of fishing and a comedy skit all at the same time. Honestly buddy I don't think I would have kept my cool that long. Your a good man Mopar bud. :salute:

It was very stimulating and I have keep a silly smile on all day over it.

A bad day fishing beats a good day working!!!!
Tell us, is that REALLY true? Well I did make a few casts and the truck did perfect.
But to tell you the truth I would have rather mowed the yard.
NO I take that back.I will always remember this day!!

Hey I got one for you Mike. Last year me and the wife are at the lake and have the boat tied up to the dock just beside the load-unload ramp. Anyway this guy with a 24 foot sport boat, with big assed inboard, is next to load so he starts trying to back the truck and trailer down the ramp and jack knives it 3 or 4 times before this other guy goes over and backs it up for him, of course this guys wife is chewing him a new *** hole and screaching turn right no turn left. Me and the misses are watching quietly sucking a beer or 2 during this time. So now the boat is winched on to the trailer, after fighting with it for 5 more minutes and owner gets in the truck and guns it and the trailer up the ramp, problem is the boat decided it wasn't time to go yet. The dumb *** didn't lock the winch or connect the safety chain to the boat. So now this big beautiful Sea Ray crashes to the pavement and the dumb *** drags it about 10 feet before he realizes there is a probem. I didn't have my camera dam it, I'm sure it was worth 10 grand on AFHV's. Oh yea, I heard later from the Merc dealer that there was about 2K damage to the outdrive and prop.
Bt the way my wife can back the trailer down first try and the boats out of the water "safely" shortly thereafter.
Terry :)

Some people need super vision now and then and that guy sounded like he needs some all the time. Good one Terry. I am going to be looking for a good trolling motor.
mine is a Motor guide 27 ftlb thrust. And is getting quite old.It has been a good one for about 12 years and was bought used. A newer one will make my Battery last longer and the boat deserves one.

Look at it this way. I used to hang out at the local boat ramp in between calls while working for a tow company. It was entertaining to watch people try and back down the ramp. Or just see the guys who go out once in a couple of years. I can still see this as fresh as the time when it happened when this guy backed his boat into the water without taking the straps of the back of the boat, or installing the water plugs. And he was so happy that he had one of them new fangled car alarms that automatically lock the doors if the car is running. Let's put it this way when he got out of his new Jeep Cherokee to get the boat straps the doors locked. And he didn't set the parking brake hard enough for the weight of the boat and extras etc.. Needless to say the jeep doesn't float to well when the sunroof is open. And the boat isn't a boat when it doesn't have the plugs in. And all I could do was watch.

:tongue9: Man that would be terrible! :toothy7:

Dang Memike, why bother with a trailer? The bed on your truck looks longer than that boat buddy. Is that an extra long "fabricated" bed?

Hope ya had a nice swim Mike...sometimes the stories are the best part..just before I moved from Ca. my buddy, Mike, and me took the wifes fishing one last time. We got there, just off the San Fran bay where the Sacramento river flows in, uneventfully didn't catch a damn thing and on the way back the motor backfired and quit, three miles out. We started rowing and both oars were rotted and broke so we used the water skis to row with. We were rowing against the tide so not getting anywhere when we noticed a boat putting around and flagged him down. He came over and agreed to tow us to the dock. We came to find out he was lost and the only thing that got him back to the dock was us. When we got there we offered to pay for the tow or at least help him get his brand new inboard on his trailer. He declined both. When he pulled the boat up the ramp he had failed to raise the lower unit...nice new boat went slamming into the pavement.
I've also forgotten to put my plug in on occasion and found mine sunk after I parked the truck...

mainly it is the hill and where I am standing with the camera.
But it is a 14' all aluminum double hull trout boat
and an eight foot bed on the truck. :headbang:

It does have that appearance in that picture.
