Removing the torque converter weights from a 1976 360/727 external balance setup.

Turning the converter into a "Neutral Balance" by removing the external balance weights to work with a '91 318 internal balance engine.

Looks great! I don't see any issues with removing the balance masses and using it on an internally balanced engine. 65'

did it really neutral balance with those weights off? That would be grand if it did. Another transmission tidbit I didnt know either..." you will have to know the year of your output shaft as there are three year changes that Chrysler made at the front splines of the output shaft. The most common is 1962-1975. Then there is the 1976-1993 and the 1994 and up. The spline count is the same on all years shafts, the change is made in the contact angle on the spine pitch. 1962-1975 is 45*, 1976-1993 is 37.5* and the 1994 and up is 30* of pitch, this is hard to see." I guess this deals with the sprag.

Yes, it did neutral balance that 360/727 converter to use with a 318/727 setup by removing the converter weights.

Thanks for the info on the different front spline output shafts.

I got lucky on matching the De-Weighted 360 1976 converter to the 1976 727 that is in the 76 D100 Truck. Same years, so good there.

So yes, runs down the road nice 318 with 727 trans, 3.55 rear gears. Balanced converter out to neutral balance. Works nice, runs out smooth, no unwanted vibrations.
