I have the flex plate mounted to the engine, the 904 trans is rebuilt but the new stock converter will not slip in place! I have tried to line up the cogs both on the trans and the converter and nothing seems to work. What do I do now?

when you have a rebuilt trans that front bushing can be tight getting the converter in.. as you are sliding the converter in hold it by the nub and wiggle and spin it as your pushing it into the trans. sooner or later the converter will drop right in there... hopefully you have the right converter.. they changed the splines along the line somewhere.

Yes as Abodyjoe said they do have different spline counts on the input shaft depending on which year trans. and if it's a lockup or not.

63-67 trans. used a 18 spline TC and 68 up non lockup use a 27 spline. The lockup trans uses a 26 spline. Make sure they sent you the right converter.

Sometimes their just stubborn getting in too. If it looks like the converter is right do like Joe said and spin it while you gently push it in.

I have found aftermarket verters are tighter clearances sometimes,i usually stand the tranny on its tail shaft, and turn the converter.it will drop down a couple of clicks,IF it is the right cpnverter.
