Does anybody know the torque value for the little screws that secure the straps that hold the u-joint to the differential yoke on a 1972 duster with an 8 3/4" rear??

the bolts are quite small and I do not want to over tighten them.

Thanks,

Bob

I'm interested as well... My book for 7.25 says 170 inch lb but I have seen another value of 24 foot lb which I think is too much but may be mistaken.

When I put mine together last weekend I used 170 inch lb even though my rear is now 8.75. I figured I'm currently only powered by a /6 it should be fine but I would like the proper figure when I do the engine swap in the next year or so.

Tight..........but not too tight! lol toolman

Can you even get a torque wrench in there? I don't think I can on mine. They are grade 8 bolts (if their the stock bolts) so they are tough little buggers. I tighten them as tight as I can get them by hand with a std. length 7/16" wrench. With a wrench that short you can't hardly over tighten them. I've never broken one in over 25 yrs. of wrenching.
