torsion bar play/movement?

So i'm putting my car's suspension back together and today i bolted up the driver side control arm, slid in the torsion bar, and installed the retainer clip. There is no weight on the torsion bars and i can grab the bar and shift it from forward to back about a 1/2" or less.(rough estimation)

Is this normal?


I'd like to check it with my passeneger side, but the genius who previously owned my car re-did the exhaust with a shot LCA bushing. So the exhaust pipe is causing some binding issues now that i have new bushings.

Thank you so much!, i was about ready to tear my front suspension apart again thinking that my pivot pin was not fully seated.
