Hello folks,

I bought a carter afb for cheap and im trying to get some more info on it.

Here is what i know:

There is no part number on the mounting tab, and no steel tag.

It says carter afb on the front driver side.

It says made in usa on front pass side.

It has a 4 5/8" air horn.

The bore diameters are 1 7/16" and 1 11/16". I have read that this makes it a 500 cfm.. not entirely sure.

It has the # 1694 cast on the top driver side.

It has 0 - 1565 cast on the pass side behind the linkage.

It has 450 cast into the bottom under the choke.

Well, thats all i know!

What i need to know is a part # for a rebuild kit and/or what this carb came on originally. And if you can verify that it is a 500 cfm.

Thank you so much!
Cameron

This AFB might be a early Pontiac or Buick/corvette carb.Carter back in the day only gave serial numbers to some companys, mopar being one of them.I have a few of these carbs and they have no casting numbers or ID numbers, and can only go by the throttle brackets and bore and venturi size to ID the cfm and the application. Is the fuel inlet on the drivers side or the passenger side? Does it have the 2 mixture screws and a third air screw that is larger than the two mixture screws.Does it have a round ball pivot for the throttle linkage? If you can post a picture of the carb,I will id it and tell you thecarb kit you need or send the pictures to me at: [email protected] mrmopartech

This is a pontiac 66 GTO carb that has been redone, does it look like this at all, mrmopartech

Whoa.. you sir are good. Yes, fuel on the pass side, two small mixture screws and a large air adjustment, and the throttle linkage has the ball ends. Looks just like the one pictured!

Ok, here are the pics of my carb.
