Curious if any of you hot rod guys have a trans cooler under the car somewhere?

If so...

Where is it?

What are the positives and negatives??

Seen it plenty of times. Just "wherever" there's room. Normally they have to be mounted horizontally, of course so they are flat and out of harm's way. As such, sometimes people mount a cooling fan on them.

I put my trans cooler in the front of the radiator along with my power steering cooler and my condensor

I remember having a mid-70's Dodge van with a 6. Had a 20 mile drive to work in these lovely Wisconsin winters. Had a spare radiator from a Volare.. cut off the trans cooler and mounted it ahead of the drivers seat rails. Didn't help as much as I thought it would, still had to use a blanket. :)

I did a tube and fin type trans cooler in my 66 Satellite
512 with a 3000rpm stall converter and a deep sump cast pan.
Cooled like a dream, mounted to the out board side of the frame connector.

Location under the car needs careful consideration. You do not want it getting damaged/leaking from a rock thrown up by the wheels. Better to mount behind the grill if possible.
